Cue the superhero theme music, folks, because we’ve got a story for you—a tale of bravery, determination, and a dash of geeky passion. Hero Digital Lab is celebrating its first year in business, and what a year it’s been! But like every good origin story, ours started long before our official debut in September 2023.
The Humble Beginnings of a Hero
Long before Hero Digital Lab became the digital dynamo it is today, it all started as a side hustle. Our fearless leader, Terisa, was just a mild-mannered employee by day, but by night, she transformed into a web-designing wonder. What started as a hobby back in 2020, building websites after hours, quickly became a way to make a little extra cash on the side. Who knew that a hobby could one day turn into a full-fledged business?
The dream of becoming an entrepreneur was always there, lurking in the background like a secret identity waiting to be revealed. In 2023, the universe gave Terisa the nudge she needed—a retrenchment process that, while unfortunate, turned out to be the best thing ever. It was time to hang up the 9-to-5 cape and embrace the independence of running her own business. And so, Hero Digital Lab was born!
The Birth of a Brand (and a Super Cool Logo)
Naming a business is no easy feat, but when you’re a family of superhero superfans (Marvel and DC all the way!), the choice was obvious. “Hero” was more than just a cool name; it was a tribute to overcoming obstacles and climbing mountains—quite literally, if you take a look at our logo.
And what’s a superhero without their signature colours? At Hero Digital Lab, we chose ours with purpose:
Lemon Yellow: The Zesty Optimist 🍋
Bright, cheerful, and full of positive energy, this colour is all about new beginnings and innovation.
Light Blue Pelorous: The Tranquil Visionary 🌊
Trustworthy and dependable, this shade of blue is as calming as it is forward-thinking—just like us!
Blush Red: The Subtle Charmer 🌹
Passionate yet warm, Blush Red is the perfect mix of energy and affection, a nod to our approachability.
Maroon: The Rich Intellectual 🍷
Deep, thoughtful, and strong—Maroon represents our commitment to reliability and expertise.
Superheroes in the Making: Our Team Grows!
Our mission to save the digital world couldn’t be accomplished by one hero alone. So, on May 1, 2024, we welcomed our first sidekick, the incredible Kayla Rabie. Kayla is more than just an employee; she’s a superstar in her own right, bringing her unique talents and energy to the team. Together, we’ve expanded our services beyond web design to include content writing, video creation, SEO, PR, and Google AdWords. Talk about a power-packed combo!
What’s Next in Our Heroic Journey?
As we reflect on our first year, we’re humbled by the support and success we’ve experienced. We’re thankful for the opportunities, the challenges, and the amazing clients who have joined us on this journey. A special shout-out to our heavenly Father, who has been our guide, opening doors and giving us the strength to keep moving forward.

- Has seen 47 winters and counting.
- Can still touch her toes—flexibility goals!
- Loves horror movies but regrets watching them when alone in the shower (because who wouldn’t?).
- Has probably used 156 notebooks in the last few years—stationery addiction is real, folks.
- Doesn’t like wine or beer (yes, you read that right).
Kayla:
- Has never broken a single bone (knock on wood).
- Did one day of gymnastics in grade 1—just one!
- Has had “On Melancholy Hill” by Gorillaz as her favourite song since childhood.
- Took Spanish as a subject in school—¡Hola!
- Has visited 17 countries and counting (world traveller alert!).
